The designs seen on Sara's Kitchen's display cakes can be customised but the result is dependent on the information given to Sara’s Kitchen by the customer.
The interpretation of customers’ bespoke requirements and amends to the core designs are approved by the customer during the order process; written descriptions and a diagram will be used to explain what the customer will receive.
Unique Designs are also available upon request and are decided by consultations and approved again during the order process.
Sara’s Kitchen will do its best to match any colour requests for icing but we cannot guarantee an exact Pantone match as colours present differently in different materials. We aim for a perfect match but this is not always possible.
All Sara’s Kitchen wedding cakes come with Ivory ribbon around the base board as standard unless another colour is requested.
All cakes are provided with a 'care plan' to the venue, identifying any allegens and inedible elements to the deciration or presentation of the cake. If the bridal couple require this information separately and earlier it should be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
An opportunity to request ingredients information is given with both the formal quote and order confirmation. We are unable to send ingredients information out to customers over the weekend.
It is the customer’s responsibility to make Sara’s Kitchen aware of any special dietary requirements that need to be accommodated in the making of their cake.
We cannot guarantee that the fruit used to make our jams and marmalades is 100% stone-free, as pips and stones can be missed in rare circumstances in the manufacturing process.
All Sara’s Kitchen wedding cakes contain butter, gluten (wheat) and eggs and are made in an environment that handles nuts, soya and alcohol. 100% Nut-free, Gluten-free or Alcohol-free cakes are no longer offered directly from ourselves, but we can recommend suppliers that can add these to you order.
All ingredients used are of the highest quality and where possible organic and free range.
Sara’s Kitchen accepts no liability for customers suffering any kind of allergic reaction from eating our cakes.
The samples given in the consultation and tasting are made to approved wedding cake recipes. However, every cake is handmade to order using fresh and natural ingredients and on rare occasions slight variations may occur as a result of this.
Consultations will take place in our Studio, but sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances this may not be possible and a suitable alternative venue elsewhere will be used instead.
Consultations are charged in order to cover our costs and reduce the number of 'no-shows'. The cost of your consultation will be set out in our initial emails and payment is required prior to the consultation date. This will be deducted from any order over £300 you place with us.
The samples presented at the consultation will of our most popular flavours, unless a specific flavour has been requested 7 days in advance of the consultation date. However we cannot guarantee to be able to provide specific flavours.
Customers will receive written quotes with a clear breakdown of which costs apply to what aspects of the cake.
A deposit of £50.00 is required to confirm your order and secure your date.
Deposits are non-refundable. Please refer to the section regarding cancellations for more details.
The final payment of the balance is due, at the latest, six weeks before your delivery date. Payment can be made earlier if you wish, but we require the balance closed six weeks prior to delivery.
Failure to complete payment by six weeks prior to your event may result in your cake order being cancelled.
Payment of deposits and balances can be made using the details found at the bottom of your invoice.

Any alterations you wish to make to your confirmed, ordered cake design must be requested in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We cannot guarantee that we will be able to make alterations to cakes requested within a month of delivery. If an alteration affects the cost, your balance will be adjusted accordingly.
Alterations to wedding-favour cookie and cutting-cake orders may not be possible within a month of your wedding day.
We will send you written confirmation of the changes.
We cannot refund the cost of any cakes cancelled with less than 30 days’ notice and if cancelled within 3 months prior to the wedding date then 50% of the balance is then required. On receipt of cancellation, a confirmation email will be sent with an invoice for any monies due.
Deposits and Consultation fees are non-refundable.
Sara’s Kitchen wedding cakes can be delivered throughout mainland England.
Free delivery is within 15 Miles of the Studio, at DH8 8RP.
Sara’s Kitchen charge 0.50p per mile over the initial 15 mile exclusion zone (each way).
Delivery charges are agreed at time of order and included on your breakdown.
Delivery charges for journeys totalling longer than six hours are to be discussed on a per-customer basis due the need for driver rest-breaks and possible overnight accommodation.
Sara’s Kitchen offers the option for customers to collect their cake free of charge from our studio. Not all cakes are suitable for collection so please ask for more detailed information.
Sara’s Kitchen provides assembly instructions for collect-from-studio cakes. Sara’s Kitchen accepts no liability for self-assembly cakes that are not assembled properly or are damaged during assembly.
Please note – wedding cakes can be very heavy and large and the components may come in several boxes. They may not be suitable for transporting via public transport.
Sara’s Kitchen accepts no liability for cakes that are damaged after they have been delivered to the agreed location.
For cakes delivered to wedding venues, Sara’s Kitchen will take a photograph as proof. Damages after this point are not Sara’s Kitchen’s responsibility.
All Sara’s Kitchen wedding cakes are fragile and require care and attention when handling, storing and displaying to prevent damage occurring. Please tell your caterers to carefully read the care information that comes with the cake on delivery.
Please take care when displaying your cake at your wedding reception to avoid direct sunlight, spotlights, candles or heat sources creating damage to the cake decorations. Hand-painted cakes are especially vulnerable to heat and light damage. All Sara’s Kitchen cakes are designed to withstand normal and reasonable display conditions.
Special requirements regarding display suitability will be discussed during the consultation process. Sara’s Kitchen accepts no liability for cakes that are damaged during display at your wedding.
Any refund given for disputes regarding a cake design or production of a design are completely at the discretion of Sara’s Kitchen and are not automatic. Full refunds will never be given for any cake which has been consumed regardless of dispute, as consumption of the cake is viewed as your acceptance that the cake is adequate for the purpose for which it has been supplied.
We do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to the cake or items with the cake such as knives, decorations and stands, once the cake has been delivered to a venue or collected from our studio, or for loss, damage or non-delivery under unavoidable or exceptional circumstances. This in no way affects your statutory rights.
From time to time our designs are published in national wedding cake magazines and other publications, we reserve the right to use any image of a cake made by Sara's Kitchen for publication at a later date.
Deposits are not required for any equipment, when hired alongside a cake order. Deposits will be required where no other order has been placed.
In both circumstances you are accepting full responsibility for our equipment. Should any items be lost / stolen / damaged during your hire, you agree to refund the cost of replacing these items.
All equipment hired as part of a cake order should be left at your venue, unless otherwise agreed with Sara's Kitchen. We will collect direct from the venue.
Equipment hired without a cake order must be returned to Sara's Kitchen within 48 hours of your event.
