So back at the start of April I had the amazing pleasure of being part of Gemma and Sean’s big day. Now I know Gemma won’t mind me mentioning she was a little worried about her day and everything coming together to make it as perfect as she had envisioned. When I first met Gemma she had all of the usual fears that so many of my brides have, will it look personal? Will it go without a hitch? Will it be everything she’d dreamed of? It’s so easy at the time to say ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ But I wanted to show you this blog of her day to prove that it’s not always about the big budgets or the extravagant displays, but it is all about the joining of two gorgeous people, who are meant to be, who share life with the same passions, who Ok don’t always dream on the same page (Sean’s would definitely be hunting!) but love to see each other blossom and take life head on.
I think the key to Gemma and Sean’s success was the personal touches, such as the little shell casing buttons holes, all made by the bride herself! DIY wedding touches mean not only saving on the budget but also getting to sit on your day and look around thinking ‘I did this!’.
Gemma had so many ideas that she wanted to incorporate, such as the beautiful soft mint colour scheme with little accents of dusky pink. So we started to look at how to bring these into her cake. We went for the palest mint over laid with pretty edible lace and dusky pink hydrangeas, all individually painted by hand. Then add in the amazing wooden topper by The Wooden Ladybird Company and you have a cake both pretty and elegant.
The Dessert bar has to be one of my favorites of the last year as it included a groom cake complete with a topper showing Sean’s passion not only for hunting but also for his dogs. The table included some yummy treats such as pink lemonade, Lemon meringues, rocky roads, cherry bake wells, smartie cookies and fudge!
Lastly I think they choose some amazing local suppliers. Such as, As You Like It in Jesmond, a quirky venue that will make your wedding stand out from the crowd, The amazingly talented Mandy Charlton Photography, who is not only a lovely lady but a huge talent within the North East and Silver Birch Designs for the Dessert Bar stationary, an award winning designer who makes everything by hand, to cater for all bespoke designs.
So what do I want to say to finish…..
Believe in yourself and your day, because it will be unique, it will be special and all those little details will come together so that when your groom catches sight of you for the very first time, all you will be thinking is ‘Wow here we go…’
Love and hugs
